Women of Legal Tech: Kara Portwood on Cultivating an Attitude of Gratitude

There is a shortage of women in science, technology, engineering, and math. But there are many women with successful careers in the legal tech community. Legaltech News presents our newest “STEM Cell” profile, in which Sherry Kappel recently interviewed Kara Portwood, Practice Area Solutions Consultant at Armstrong Teasdale and Director General of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA). This profile is a sequel to the Women of Legal Tech series originally published by editor Monica Bay, “To Inspire Girls, Women (and Men).”

While there is still a long way to go (for example, over 90% of CIOs at Am Law 200 law firms are still men), there are many women who lead their legal tech work in all law firms and serve as role models. From July to the end of September 2021, we will introduce six women from the Legal Tech division at Big Law Firms.
