Post-George Floyd, Diverse Legal Tech Founders Find Many Mentorships, But Few Investments

The subject of diversity in the legal tech industry has been bubbling to the surface as the nation goes through a racial reckoning.

Since 2020, when protests erupted over George Floyd’s killing, minority legal tech founders have noticed the legal sector at large wanting to be more inclusive by offering more assistance to diverse entrepreneurs. At the same time, these founders say that those mentorship opportunities have not necessarily translated into investments, with some even wondering if it will take another tragic event to push investors to take a chance on those who don’t look like them.
