Part-time Sheriffs/Summary Sheriffs – Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland

Part-time sheriffs / resume sheriffs

The Court Appointments for Scotland (JABS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals who wish to be considered for a part-time position to the Part-Time Sheriff’s Office and Part-Time Executive Sheriff’s Office.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the judiciary in Scotland and support the judicial recovery program. Potential applicants should note that a higher number of meeting days, up to 60 days, are expected in the first year after their appointment and should ensure that they can commit to 60 days before applying. Thereafter, it is expected that each part-time summary sheriff and part-time sheriff will sit at least 20 days a year.

Further information can be found here on the JABS website.

We encourage diversity and welcome applications from civil and criminal law practitioners alike. We are particularly happy to receive applications from groups that are currently underrepresented in the judiciary. The principles of fair and open competition apply and selection recommendations are made solely on the basis of merit.

Applications must be submitted by 12 noon on Wednesday, August 10, 2021.
