Owlet and some of its executives are charged with failing to disclose material information during the class action period in violation of federal securities laws.

on October 4, 2021, the company announced that it had received a warning letter from the US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) stating that “The Company’s marketing of its Owlet Smart Sock product … [it] a medical device that requires pre-marketing clearance or approval from the FDA, “which request the company had not received, and also required that” the company stop commercializing the Smart Sock for measuring blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate when those metrics so are intended to “use an alarm to detect or diagnose desaturation and bradycardia to notify users that readings are outside of preset values.”

On the news, Owlet’s shares fell $ 1.29, or 23% to close around $ 4.19 per share October 4, 2021, with unusually high trading volumes.
