the National Council of Justice (NJC) on Sunday released the list of 36 people recommended for various judicial appointments in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and 10 states.
NJC’s information director Soji Oye, who released the list on Sunday, said the council had the candidates on its 95th floor.
The candidates were recommended for appointment either to President Muhammadu Buhari or their respective state governors, depending on the court.
The list contains candidates recommended for appointment as major chief judges of the states of Edo, Kogi, Ondo, Akwa Ibom and Ekiti and the FCT.
It also includes the candidates for the Grand Kadis of the Sharia Appeals Courts of Yobe and Bauchi States and the presidents of the Appeals Courts of Oyo, Kogi, and Nasawara States.
Some of the chief judges and other court directors were appointed in provisional roles pending their material appointment.
The rest are recommended as judges and kadis by High Courts and Customary Courts of Appeal and Sharia Courts of Appeals in Gombe, Akwa Ibom, Kaduna, Ondo, Oyo, Kogi, Bauchi and Oyo.
“It is expected that all recommended candidates will be sworn in after approval by the President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR and their respective state governors and approval by the respective state House of Representatives,” said Oye.
Mr Oye had alluded to the appointment on Friday without naming them in a statement announcing the bodies that would be set up to investigate three judges involved in issuing conflicting court orders.
