Legal Tech Startup HyperDraft Taps Partner from Goodwin Procter as First General Counsel

THE ANGEL, January 12, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Legal tech startup HyperDraft has announced the hiring of its newest legal industry veteran, Sean Greney, a technology partner of Goodwin Procter LLP, as first general counsel. This follows the addition of legal industry titan Michael Roster to its advisory board in late 2021 and during a period of hyper-growth for the company.

Before joining HyperDraft, Greaney was a technology partner at the Santa Monica Goodwin Office and Partners at Southern California regional powerhouse Stubbs, Alderton & Markiles, representing start-ups, venture capital firms and some of the largest technology and CPG companies.

Greaney was previously in-house at Beats by Dr. Dre, where he helped the company scale and complete its 2014 acquisition by Apple. He has been selected as a Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star three times and was named Most Distinguished Volunteer by Public Counsel in 2020.

“When my co-founder and I started building HyperDraft, we agreed that we would only work with the brightest minds and the best people. Sean is an exceptional attorney and someone I often refer to as the attorney of the consummate attorney. He’s the guy you go to when you’re in trouble,” said CEO and Chief Engineer, Tony Thai. “Sean’s experience spans the entire audience of our target audience, having been both an in-house counsel and private practice in large and mid-sized law firms. I’m honored to have Sean join us on our journey and that he’s going down the foxhole with us.”

Greaney will serve as the company’s first General Counsel and join the company’s leadership team as it continues to serve its fervently growing user base and community and prepares to launch new patent-pending products later this year.

“Legal modernization is happening now, and the technology developed by HyperDraft will change the legal industry for the better,” said Greaney. “As a partner in a law firm, I’ve looked everywhere for solutions to alleviate the pain of the contracting process. I was promised solutions that were never delivered or told that what I was looking for was impossible. When Tony first told me about HyperDraft and its product offerings, I was skeptical. However, the HyperDraft team has demonstrated its ability to deliver next-generation solutions and release features faster than anyone else on the market.”
