The Legal Brotherhood on Thursday called for the seniority principle to be adhered to when appointing judges
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – September 9, 2021): The Bar Association on Thursday called for seniority to be adhered to when appointing judges.
The Bar Association, under the auspices of the Pakistani Bar Council and the Bar Association of the Supreme Court, called for seniority to be respected pending the establishment of criteria for the appointment of judges at all levels in consultation with all stakeholders, including the bar associations.
The Brotherhood insisted that the exercise of discretion could be properly governed by rules and guidelines.
They called for a lawyer protection law to be passed by parliament to protect lawyers in the exercise of their professional activities.
They also decided to amend Article 175 (A).
They also called for a parliamentary review to relieve 17,000 unemployed workers.
The Convention has also adopted and confirmed all previous resolutions adopted in the previous meetings and conventions of August 4th in Islamabad, August 21st in Karachi and August 26th in Multan.
