WORCESTER – A former personal injury attorney at a Worcester law firm was charged in the Central District Court Thursday for stealing the firm.

Ross A. Annenberg, 53, was charged with a single trial for theft of over $ 250. A plea not guilty was filed for him.

Annenberg, of 17 Glen Road, Hopkinton, was fired in 2015 after admitting he misused $ 50,000 in client money. According to a fact sheet filed in court, his former employer, Abigail Williams & Associates, claimed he cashed checks for $ 6,622 in agency fees in 2012 and 2013 to which he was not entitled.

“These checks were withdrawn from Abigail William (s) PC’s account,” the police wrote. They said the Board of Bar Overseers confirmed the claims made by Williams’ company during its investigation.

Judge Andrew M. D’Angelo released Annenberg without bail. His lawyer declined to comment.
