SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Governor Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of Catherine Swysen to serve as a judge in the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court and nominated Judge Tari Cody as an Associate Justice of the Second District Court of Appeal, Division 6 on Jan. 31.
Swysen has been a managing partner at Sanger Swysen & Dunkle since 1997 were she has held multiple positions including associate and law clerk. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Santa Barbara College of Law and fill a vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Ginger E. Garrett.
Judge Tari Cody now awaits confirmation by the Commission on Judicial Appointments which consists of Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero, California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Senior Presiding Justice Arthur Gilbert.
Cody has served as a judge at the Ventura County Superior Court since 2000. Before joining the bench, she was an Associate at Lemieux & O’Neill from 1994 to 2000 and an Associate and Partner at Nordman, Cormany, Hair & Compton from 1985 to 1994. She received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School.
