Daily Harvest food poisoning lawsuit investigation

Several people became ill after eating Lentil + Leek Crumbles from Daily Harvest: who’s affected?

Vegan meal delivery company Daily Harvest sold a food product that reportedly made people sick, then appears to have tried to downplay the issue on social media.

If you were made sick by Daily Harvest’s Lentil + Leek Crumbles, you may be eligible for a lawsuit investigation.

Daily Harvest, a meal delivery company, announced a voluntary recall of its “Lentil + Leek Crumbles” dish and is now facing backlash regarding how it made the announcement on social media. Multiple media outlets report that consumers have experienced nausea, vomiting, and liver damage, as well as “Extreme fatigue, dark urine, low-grade fever and whole-body itching with no rash.”

Food poisoning information not transparent initially

Daily Harvest originally posted a vague announcement to its 600,000 Instagram followers, which did not lay out any specifics about the recall, but instead told followers that an “important message” about the company’s “Lentil + Leek Crumbles” could be found in a link in the bio.

After harsh criticism that Daily Harvest was trying to keep important harmful health information off its social media feed, the company reportedly reversed course and made a more prominent announcement, urging its customers to not eat the lentil and leek.

Daily Harvest launches investigation

In a statement on its site, Daily Harvest announced, “We launched an investigation to identify the root cause of the health issues being reported. We’re working closely with the FDA and with multiple independent labs to investigate this. We are working with a group of experts to help us get to the bottom of this—that includes microbiologists, toxin and pathogen experts as well as allergists. All pathogen and toxicology results have come back negative so far, but we’re continuing to do extensive testing.”

The company said it has been in direct contact with customers who got sick and is offering refunds.
