April 19 Deal Specifies Halting Judicial Appointments – Civil.ge

The U.S. Embassy in Georgia tweeted this today by signing it the April 19th offer, The ruling Georgian Dream Party and the opposition agreed to pause ongoing judge appointments and “commit to comprehensive and inclusive judicial reform”, including “new legislation on Supreme Court nominations”.

The tweet contained an excerpt from the Compromise agreement brokered by the EU between the ruling party and the opposition, highlighting relevant issues related to judicial reform and appointments.

The US Embassy tweet came after the Georgian Dream MP Irakli Kobakhidze said Parliament would not stop the process of appointing Supreme Court judges, stressing that the ruling party had already fulfilled its commitments to reform the candidate selection process prior to the signing of the April 19 agreement.
