Orrick Spins Out First Legal Tech Company, Shunning Tech Subsidiary Route

Joinder, a solution-based engagement platform that started as an electronic filing system within the Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe group of companies, officially launched its product in the open market for legal technologies today. If successful, the company could signal the emergence of another avenue that is available to companies that are not ready to set up a full-blown tech subsidiary.

But what exactly does it have to do first? The platform is designed to address some of the organizational challenges faced by legal departments whose documents are stored in a variety of law firms and service providers with no easy access.
