Leading Plaintiffs’ Firms File Class Action Lawsuit Over Presence Of Toxic Heavy Metals In Baby Food

WASHINGTON and MINNEAPOLIS and NEWARK, NJ, February 5, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Decorated Law Firms Lockridge, Grindal, Nauen PLLP, Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca LLP and Lite DePalma Greenberg & Afanador, LLC today filed a class action lawsuit against Plum, PBC, maker of the baby food brand Plum Organics. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of a statewide class, alleges that Plum’s baby food products, despite being marketed as “organic” and “made from the best ingredients”, are contaminated with the presence of heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, lead and lead are Mercury.

The complaint cites a February 4, 2021 US House of Representatives’ House of Representatives Economic and Consumer Policy Subcommittee on Oversight and Reform staff report identifying “high levels of toxic heavy metals” in baby food. The staff report found that Plum “refused to cooperate with the subcommittee’s investigation, which had major consequences[] fear that their lack of cooperation may obscure the presence of even higher levels of toxic heavy metals in their baby food products compared to their competitors’ products. “A Healthy Babies Bright Futures Report, dated October 2019indicates that Plums baby food contains heavy metals.

The complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Californiaseeks damages, statutory and punitive damages.
