If You’ve Used TiKTok, Here’s How to Claim Money from Class Action Lawsuit – NBC Chicago

U.S. residents who have used TikTok or Musical.ly, or whose children have used the phone applications, could be eligible for money from a class action lawsuit, with those who live in Illinois potentially being eligible for six times the payment.

According to a $ 92 million settlement proposed by TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, plaintiffs allege the two apps violated federal and state laws by collecting and distributing users’ personal information “without adequate notice and consent.”

Who can make claims:

  • All Illinois residents who used the apps to create videos before September 30, 2021 within the state.
  • All US citizens who used the apps before September 30, 2021.

The lawsuit found that eligible individuals can file a claim on their own behalf or on behalf of their child under the age of 18. The deadline for filing a claim is March 1, 2022.
