The number of mergers and acquisitions completed in Hungary last year was 31, close to 2019, but their value rose due to the merger of Magyar Bankholding, which is set to become Hungary’s second largest commercial lender, consulting firm Mazars said , according to gazdasagportal.hu.
The value of mergers and acquisitions in Hungary rose from EUR 378 million in 2019 to EUR 3 billion last year.
The merger of Budapest Bank, Takarékbank and MKB Bank to form Magyar Bankholding accounts for around EUR 2 billion of that, Mazars said. The merger of Magyar Bankholding is the fourth largest in the region.
